taylorfromblueprints This album brings to mind summers spent on New England beaches, drinking frappes, and pining over an unrequited love. Listening to it feels like you've unearthed an undiscovered cassette tape from K-Records (if they were based in Boston, of course). A sweet collection of stories set to music. Favorite track: Happy Birthday, Chicken Boy.

Frozen Lazuras This is a sweet and charming e.p. of indie folk. With flourishes of cello and the singing saw, the understated instrumentation brings to mind early Magnetic Fields. Wistful and nostalgic, Travels With Brindle sounds like the moonlight shining through your window. Favorite track: Texas Tourney.

David Kravitz Chelsea's melodies evoke sunny summer days and warm nights at the fair with the scent of fried dough. But the lyrics never let you forget the hurt when summer loves disperse, never to be seen again Favorite track: Summer Stock.

bully_thelsb Here's the thing I love about the Internet Age*: getting to hear and collect tracks by excellent indie artists (like Travels with Brindle) who don't have big megacorp record contracts. (Yet.) Vocalist and ukelele player Chelsea Spear combines fluidic folk music melodies with sweet-voiced and smart lyrics that just plain make you happy. Fun, relaxing, intriguing music. I highly recommend this album.

(*Also: ordering pizza online!) Favorite track: Happy Birthday, Chicken Boy.

Bea C. Chelsea is a songwriter's songwriter. Lyrics that are smart, literary and rich, but never at the expense of a melody. Spare arrangements that nonetheless evoke that classic girl group sound. Love Greetings from Rocky Point and looking forward to the next record! Favorite track: Happy Birthday, Chicken Boy.

She later began writing her own music, developing the ethereal-yet-gritty style that can now be heard in the tight melodies of her most recent EP, Greetings from Rocky Point. She is writing her second EP. ... more
